the rosy starling is a small member of the starling family native to europe and asia. males are distinctly colored during the breeding season; with sharp contrast between black and light pink feathers - during winter, they become much more dull, and lose their long crest feathers. while sometimes these starlings prefer to feed on grains and other crops, they are usually not considered pests, as they also eat large quantities of grasshoppers and locusts.
